We developed a customized spring design software based on NEiNastran solver. The custom software allows designers to choose different spring types & input various spring parameter. Based on the input parameters; a complete FE model is automatically generated which can be run directly in NEiNastran FE solver to get the results for different operating conditions such as rebound, full-bump, etc.

The results are then automatically imported to custom software to generate certain graphs that help designers to understand the results. Based on which the parameters can be modified to optimize the design. firm optimized the heat sink geometry and placement of the heat sinks, vents, fans and ICs. No physical prototypes were needed. The entire project achieved its design goals without building a single unit, thereby saving the client thousands of dollars in prototyping and physical testing costs.
